Adopt a Dachshund (short coat)

Dachshund (short coat) Dog

Pip & Squeak the Dog needs a home

Pip (black and tan) and Squeak (chocolate) are 4-year-old brothers tragically displaced since their owner had to surrender them when they lost everything in Hurricane Harvey. Whether you are a couple or a single person wanting to adopt they will give all the love you can stand. These boys have big brown eyes that will melt your heart. They are wonderful lap dogs who love to snuggle and also quietly take care of each other.

The boys are currently in potty training boot camp, as they were not house trained when they came into rescue. They are making great progress and “potty” (“pee pee” or “poopers”) quickly if they need to go out in the cold. Pipunderstood the command first, but Squeak now knows the words. They are not ready to roam carpeted areas of your house all day without accident, but with consistency and verbal praise they are on their way and stay sleep all night. They want to please; it only takes more a gentle “no” to understand they are doing something undesired.

Pip and Sqeak were seriously underweight when they arrived in Maryland, but they eagerly eat and have put some meat on their bones. They eat two meals a day with tartar control food as snacks. Both are extremely adaptable. Even with our very cold weather, they never complain and will always happily go anywhere for a leash walk. They have an immediate and reliable recall (“come”), unless you put a squirrel in front of them.

If you would like more information about this loving and sweet pair, please contact their foster mom Diana, at [email protected]

Transportation Help

If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
